

He graduated in 1935 from Reitz High School and attended Mechanic Arts and Evansville College. He was a World War II Veteran, serving in the Army Infantry from February 28, 1943, to October 28, 1945, including 13 months in Northern France and Central Europe. After the war, he returned to his civilian job at Bucyrus-Erie, where he remained until retirement in 1979. He was employed as an Industrial Engineer in the Erecting/Assembly area working for 35 years.
Macer enjoyed golf and had been an Amateur Radio Operator since 1960. He enjoyed painting in oil, acrylic and water colors as well as other craft activities. He had displayed his work at local craft shows for several years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Fern Elizabeth Edmond in 1995; and brother, Marvin I. Edmond in 1974.
Macer is survived by his son, Thomas Edmond (Gayla) of Evansville; grandchildren, Stephanie Bivens (Justin) of Raleigh, NC, and Scott Edmond (Holly) of Evansville; great-grandchildren, Bailee, Kaiden and Jaxon Edmond; nieces and nephews.
Services will be 2:00 PM Monday, March 14, 2011, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Rev. Janet Kelley, with burial in Tupman Cemetery. Friends may visit Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 PM and Monday from 12:00 PM until service time at funeral home.
