

Marianna Cubbison Vogel of Newburgh, IN passed away on Monday, July 22nd at the age of 94. She was born on June 4th, 1930 in Evansville, IN where she grew up with her parents, Stanley and Mary (Ford) Cubbison.
She graduated from Bosse High School in 1948 and went on to graduate from Evansville College (now U. of E.) in 1952 with a degree in Music Education. She was among the first members of the Chi Omega sorority chapter when it was locally founded in 1951. It was at Evansville College where she met the love of her life, her husband Jim. They enjoyed 72 years of marriage together.
She taught Music and English at Lodge and Glenwood Elementary schools before becoming a wonderful homemaker and mother in 1956.
She was always an active mother for her three sons, whether serving as room mother at school, leading Cub Scout dens, or attending all of their many activities over the years. She was a member of Bethel United Church of Christ where she was an active and loyal member of the church choir for decades. She was a founder and the first president of the Ladies’ 9-hole Golf Association at Rolling Hills Country Club, a group she loved over many years.
She is survived by her husband James (Jim) Vogel as well as her three sons and their growing families: Son Rob Vogel (Lori) and grandchildren James and Jacqui; son Ron Vogel and grandchildren Amy (Craig Pfunder), Alex (Chris Dickey and great granddaughter Jade), and Ben (Emily and great granddaughter Maeve); and son Kurt Vogel (Shelly) and granddaughters Julianne, Claire, and Mia.
Marianna’s sons and their families have spread across the U.S. but are all coming back to Indiana for a Celebration of Life Service to be held on Sunday, August 11 at Bethel United Church of Christ (3029 N. Green River Rd, Evansville). The service begins at 1:30, and there will not be visitation prior.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Bethel UCC Music Fund can be made in Marianna’s name.
The family would like to thank the staffs at Primrose Retirement Community, Heritage Hospice, and Johns Quality Care for the love, care, and compassion they showed Marianna.
