Marion Leslie "Hot Lips" Lee, 74, passed away Monday, May 11, 2020, at home surrounded by family. Les was born December 10, 1945, to the late Willis Andrew and Mary Margaret (Satterfield) Lee. He graduated from F. J. Reitz High School in 1964. He proudly served our country as a medic in the Navy during the Vietnam War. Les was employed at Whirlpool in Evansville for 44 years where he proudly represented his coworkers as a union steward with Local 808. He met Gloria Evans during recreation at the Salvation Army on Fulton Avenue. They were married on April 12, 1964, at Bethany Christian Church on Columbia Street in Evansville. He learned the craft of refinishing antique mirrors from Ernie DeWeese, and years later purchased the business, Quality Mirror Resilvering from Mr. DeWeese, operating it on the weekends for many years. After retirement, Les enjoyed being involved with the VFW Post 1114 in Evansville where he had coffee and conversation with fellow members, read the newspaper, and prepped the packets for Sunday bingo. He had no problem letting you know when he thought you were wrong, and encouraged you not to go off half-cocked and regret your choice.
Les was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William Robert Lee; sister-in-law Arletta (Evans) Zarazee, and nephews, Larry Turpin and Andrew Foreman "Bubba" Lee.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gloria (Evans) Lee; son, Michael Allen Lee (Shelly); daughter, Kelley Ann Lee-Zarazee (Todd); brothers Donald J. Lee, Sr. (Judy) and Charles K. Lee (Carla); sister, Ruth Ann (Lee) Caraker (Gary); grandchildren Brittney Nicole (Lee) Thompson (Nic), Kathryn Elizabeth Lee, Justine Alexandria (Zarazee) Blair (Ben); and Lauren Elizabeth Zarazee; great-grandchildren Parker Andrew Thompson, Bradie Jade Thompson, Jake Everett Blair, and Ryan Maddux Blair; aunt Mary Lillian (Satterfield) Lancaster, aunt and uncle Pearl and Jim Price.
