

Marjorie Ellen Hanson Patton, 91, of Evansville, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2014, at Good Samaritan Home. She was born April 18, 1922, in Elkader, IA. She lived on Allens Lane in Evansville for many years before moving to the Good Samaritan Home in 2010.
She had a beautiful spirit and was always a joy to be around. Spending time with her grandchildren was very special to her. Her kitchen was always open and ready for friends and family. Her Iowa family was very special to her. She loved reading, bingo, music, animals, especially Larry's dog, Brendi, and fishing. She was a wonderful old fashioned cook and loved having the family for dinners. She loved watching kids play baseball at Geiser Field. She was a longtime member of St. Matthew’s United Church of Christ where she was noted for her fudge making.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, George Patton, who died in 1997 and who served in WWII under General George Patton; daughter, Janet Griffin who died in 2007; parents, Adolph and Lydia; and siblings, Edna , Leo, Lola, Harry, Adolph, Jr., Aden and Lucille.
She is survived by her children, Larry (Cindy) and Bruce; grandchildren, Matthew and Elizabeth Griffin; great-grandchildren, Patton A. Cheesman and Maddie Mason; son-in-law, Roger Griffin and his wife, Joey; and many cousins, nieces and nephews scattered throughout the country.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Rev. Art Christmas, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM and Wednesday from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
