

Martha Alice Berlin, 87, of Indianapolis, formerly of Evansville, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2015, at Clearvista Lake Health Campus in Indianapolis. She was born April 12, 1928, in Evansville, to the late Floyd Denton and Sarah Elizabeth (Tyree) DeVillez, Sr.
She graduated from Reitz High School and retired from Citizen's Bank after 30 years. She was a Sunday school teacher at Victory Baptist Church and then Memorial Baptist Church, but her most cherished role was being a mother and housewife. Martha had a niche with the needle and would make beautiful quilts. She enjoyed having company and would always prepare a delicious feast. She also loved taking care of the animals on her farm.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Virgil Berlin; and brother, Lee DeVillez.
She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Bickell; brother, Floyd (Peggy) DeVillez; grandchildren, Hannah (Jeff) Heuser, David (Judith) Bickell, Noah Bickell, and Sarah (Randy) Fladeland; and great-grandchildren, Samantha Fladeland and Joshua Bickell.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Rev. Terry Gamblin, with entombment at Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
