Marti Lea Applegate

8 octobre 196627 avril 2020

Marti Lea Applegate, 53, of Evansville, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, April 27, 2020. She was born October 8, 1966 in Cincinnati. At two years of age she was adopted by Dock and Maxine Amyx.

Marti was a Registered Nurse in various hospitals in Indiana and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Her favorite area was in OBGYN, where she assisted in delivering babies.

She enjoyed scrap booking, baking, reading and watching Survivor with her family. One of her favorite places to visit was Disney World. She also enjoyed trips to Gulf Shores as she loved the beach.

She was part of the McCutchanville Fire Department where her husband serves as a chaplain.

As a pastor’s wife, Marti served her Lord as a worship and women’s leader. She also worked with youth and enjoyed providing meals for church events.

Because of her health, she was unable to participate in the church in all the ways she wanted to, but was a wonderful example of courage and grace as she battled Lupus. She was most recently a part of the family at Mt. Pleasant Church of God in Evansville where she will be sorely missed.

Marti was a devoted wife for 31 years and a wholly dedicated mother and grandmother. She loved her children with great passion. And also loved being a grandma (Mimi). Her legacy of strength, faith and courage will always be with them.

She is survived by her husband, Bruce; sons, Tyler Applegate, and Jared Applegate (Allie Rhea); daughter, Katie Braker (Eric); granddaughter, Arowyn Applegate; father, Dock Amyx; step-mother, Mary Jane Amyx; brother, Randy Amyx (Jenny) and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Marti was preceded in death by her mother, Maxine.

A private family service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 1, 2020 at the Alexander North Chapel, 4200 Stringtown Road, officiated by Rev. Doug Talley.

I’m so very sad to hear this! She was a lovely person. I went to nursing school with her and she was a great person and always so kind. She spoke so often of her love for her family! Thinking of her family!

I saw Marti just in October at AU's homecoming. We had a wonderful conversation. Marti was such a kind person, so brave and courageous. Bruce, you're always my "S.I.D." friend. I will be asking Jesus to be very present in your pain.

Marti was such a beautiful human being. I will forever honor the moments I was graced with at her bedside as she battled her health, and was honored to be a spiritual support to her in those most difficult days. Marti made every decision and faced every hardship with great love. I believe she has received her miracle.

I'm so sorry to hear of Marti's passing. We shared a duplex with Bruce and Marti during seminary and babysat each other's kids in order to help each other through school and work. We so enjoyed that time. Marti was a dear person. I will be praying for Bruce and family during this time of mourning. -- Gerald Cullison, New Orleans
