She lived most of her life in Evansville. During WWII, she worked in San Francisco, CA for Indiana Bell Telephone as a switchboard operator. She proudly represented her Union when they elected her to speak on their behalf before a committee in Washington, D.C. After the war, she returned to Evansville where she met John Draper, who would later become her husband. She was happy to devote herself to her children and husband which became her full time career.
Mary Beth was an active member of East Side Christian Church her entire adult life. There, she was an Elder and eventually recognized as an Elder-Emeritas. She was a member of the Christian Women’s Fellowship, sang in the church choir for over 30 years, served on many boards and committees and enjoyed spending every Tuesday morning with her Quilting Group friends.
Coming from a family of farmers, she appreciated the land and enjoyed gardening and nature. She was a member of DAR, Colonial Dames, and an Honorary Kentucky Colonel. She was an avid reader of the Bible, enjoyed history books and loved a good mystery.
Mary Beth was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, John B. Draper; sister, Catherine Kello; and nephew, Stanley Kello.
She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Draper and Jane (Draper) Goodin, both of Evansville; grandsons, Matthew, John and Daniel Goodin, and their father, Jim Goodin, all of Indianapolis; and niece, Andrea Schirmer of Mt. Vernon.
