Mary "Janet" Edmonson

Mary “Janet” (Hamberg) Edmonson passed peacefully on Monday, January 16, 2023. She was born on April 4, 1936 in Dayton, Kentucky. She was the loving wife of 58 years to Larry Edmonson. She is survived by her husband, Larry; daughters, Lori Meyers (Wayne Bohm) and Gayle Gross (John) all of Evansville; grandchildren, Rebecca Meyers, Jeff Meyers, Kyle Gross and Zachary Gross; great-granddaughter, Ellie Southard. Janet was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Hamberg; parents, Fred and Hilda Hamberg; uncle and aunt, Harry and Lottie Hancock; dear cousin, Virginia “Gi” Hancock. Janet loved spending time with family and friends. She loved her family dearly. She always said her middle name was ‘Go’ because she was glad to join a friend or group for a movie or show, card party or church gathering. She enjoyed family vacations and motor coach trips and lunches with the ladies from her high school graduating class. In her spare time at home, she enjoyed crocheting afghans as well as small crafts. She was a longtime member of Messiah Lutheran Church, she loved the Lord. She poured love and smiles into everyone she met. Janet retired from Insight Communications in 2000. Janet was proud to be a 30+ year breast cancer survivor as well as a member of Central High School’s Centennial Class of 1954, which was the last class graduating from the old Central downtown. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 20, 2023 at Alexander West Chapel officiated by Pastor James Culver with burial to follow in Lutheran Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Thursday, January 19, 2023 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm, and on Friday from 10:30 am until service time at the funeral home.
