Mary Ruth Oakley

She graduated from Reitz High School in 1944 and from Indiana State University in 1948. She taught at Central High School for many years and then transferred to Harrison High School upon its opening. She was the head of the business department at Harrison prior to her retirement. Mary Ruth was a member of the Methodist Temple United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for many years.

Mary Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Llewellyn and Luella (Grossman) Oakley; and dear friend, Mary Dannettell.

She is survived by her loving extended family John and Sue (Dannettell) Buthod, Robert and Laura (Gottschling) Buthod, James Buthod, and Tom Buthod; and great-nieces and nephew, Mary Lou Walsh, Betty Guthrie, and William Oakley.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM Monday, July 11, 2016, at Alexander Funeral Home - East Chapel, officiated by Rev. Andy Payton, with burial in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 PM and Monday from 9:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the excellent staff at Brentwood ACU for their kind and compassionate care of Mary Ruth these last few years.
