Mary Ellen Weiss, 92, of Mount Vernon, IN, peacefully passed away on Monday, October 28, 2024. Born on October 25, 1932, in Evansville, IN, she was the cherished daughter of the late Russell and Lois (Cron) Camp.
A devoted member of Trinity Wesleyan Church, Mary enjoyed her early years volunteering with children's church and youth groups. Her greatest joy, however, came from her family, which was the heart of her life. Mary celebrated every holiday with enthusiasm, creating lasting memories, especially through her beloved tradition of baking Christmas cookies for her grandchildren. Her talent in the kitchen extended to special pies and cakes that delighted her family during holiday gatherings. In addition to her culinary skills, Mary had a passion for tending to her beautiful flower garden, which brought her immense happiness.
She is survived by her loving sons, Philip Weiss (Lisa) and Mark Weiss (Kim); her adoring grandchildren, Philip Weiss II, Nicholas Weiss (Sarah), Benjamin Weiss, Eric Weiss (Alli), and Emily Weiss; her cherished great-grandchildren, Jacob, Barryn, Charlotte, Evelyn, and Arra Weiss; and her brothers, Paul Camp and Steve Camp.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Irvin Weiss, and her siblings: Martha Haering, James Camp, and Ruth Stephens.
Visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at Alexander West Chapel, located at 2100 W. Illinois Street, Evansville, IN. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Mike Stoelting. Following the service, Mary will be laid to rest alongside her husband in Immanuel U.C.C. Cemetery on Ford Road.
