Dr. McKinley "Mack" Ary, Jr., 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 26, 2012, at Deaconess Hospice Care Center. He was born January 29, 1923, in Eldorado, IL. He was an iron and steel structural engineer, building bridges, high rises and US Government projects throughout the United States. He also worked for Vecozo Engineering. He graduated from Central High School. He gained notoriety as a Golden Glove Boxer and was an outstanding athlete in football and baseball. He furthered his education at Mississippi State College before joining the military. During World War II, Mack served in the Army's Airborne Engineering Division. Serving with distinction, he was a highly-decorated soldier earning two Bronze Stars for his great heroic efforts during the war. Mack is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Ary; sons, Thomas (Susan) Ary of Evansville and Richard (Peggy) Ary of Washington, WV; stepsons, Clinton R. (Gail) Cunningham of Ormond Beach, FL and Phillip N. Cunningham of Evansville; grandchildren, Jason (Kelly) Ary of Indianapolis, Chris (Holly) Ary of Grain Valley, MO, Nicole Ary and Jennifer (Ryan) Stuteville, both of Evansville; two great-grandchildren; brother, Charles "Rip" (Alice) Ary of Yuma, AZ; and many cousins. Services will be 6:00 PM Friday, November 2, 2012, at Alexander East Chapel. A private entombment will be held in Alexander Memorial Park at a later date.
