Melvin L. Pate, 90, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at VNA Charlier Hospice Center. He was born June 10, 1923, in Evansville, IN to the late William and Bertha (VanBibber) Pate.
He was a Veteran of the Air Force who served in WWII. He enjoyed traveling with his wife in their motorhome and riding motorcycles. He also enjoyed boating and had built a cabin cruiser boat. He obtained his pilot’s license and piloted his own Cessna airplane.
Melvin was preceded in death by his wife, Feryl Pate; sister, Juanita Ross; his parents, and brothers.
He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer (Ken) Martin; grandson, Jason Wright; and brother- in-law, Glen Ross.
Services will be 1:00 PM Friday, September 6, 2013, at Alexander East Chapel, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit Thursday from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
