

Meredith Woodrow “Woodie” Cloud, 89, of Evansville, formerly of Polk City, FL, passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2014, at Good Samaritan Home. He was born March 17, 1925, in Huntington, IN, to the late Marshall and Hulda (Overman) Cloud.
He was a WWII Veteran of the US Army and served in combat with the 17th Armored Infantry Battalion and the 12th Division in France and Germany. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Auburndale, FL and the Local 181International Operators Union, retiring in 1987. He loved fishing, cars and Florida.
Woodie was preceded in death by his daughter, Jacque Lynn Youngs.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Edna Pratt Cloud, whom he married on August 21, 1948; son, M. Wayne (Carol) Cloud; son-in-law, Murray Youngs; grandchildren, Amy (Chris) Kivett, Chris (Deanna) Cline, Meredyth (Jason) Brown, Katye (Chris) Bennett, Kristyn Cloud and Darren (Brandi) Cloud; and eight great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit Saturday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Alexander West Chapel. Burial will be held in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
Many thanks from the family to the Good Samaritan staff for their loving and heartfelt care given to Woodie during his stay there. Also, thank you to Heritage Hospice for their gentle and compassionate care during his last days.
