AVIS DE DÉCÈS

Michael Earl McGinness

10 novembre 19574 janvier 2021

Michael Earl McGinness, 63, of Boonville, IN. passed away unexpectedly at his home in December.

Mike was a caring, reserved, quirky, dependable, at times solitary, resourceful and hard-working person. He was a loving father, who believed in the importance of quality time with loved ones. This meant spending some of his early years of fatherhood enjoying swimming, roller-blading, baseball and movie marathons at the theatre with his daughter. Mike was a painter by trade and a scholar who continued his education in engineering and computers. His passions were playing the violin and harmonica, volunteering in the community, and fishing. Mike’s impeccable and unique fashion style included T-shirts and pants with a variety of paint spatter, a hat, sunglasses and a Kool cigarette hanging from his lips. He was the epitome of giving others their space when needed, but always remained available and more than willing to help. Mike also loved dogs and in recent years, he volunteered at the local humane society where he used his skills to tackle projects and contribute to their care. His volunteer work was more than just charity; it was his passion. Mike will be fondly remembered and missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his Daughter, April (McGinness) McReynolds; Siblings Jim McGinness, John McGinness, Carol (McGinness) Flin, Kathryn (McGinness) St. John; Step Siblings Shannon (Donovan) Helfrich, Dan Donovan, Erin (Donovan) Helfrich, Granddaughter Angel Williamson and his Mother Dorothy Melampy.

Mike was a funny guy. One day this guy came riding up to the house on a bike and said, "Hi. Aunt Cathy "! I thought to myself, " Who is that "? Then I realized it was Mike. I hadn't seen him in years, but we sat and talked like we he never been apart. He was a great guy, sometimes a little lost, but always funny! He will be missed! Rest in peace, Mike. Love, Aunt Cathy

It’s been a while since I’ve seen my uncle mike, but I remember visiting him and he visiting my mom and my family in Ohio. Defiantly not your average guy, but I remember fun times with him at family events. I also hold great appreciation for his relationship with my mom Kathryn. Mike didn’t always stay in contact, but I always remember him and my mom sending snail mail letters to each other and talking on his landline. They had fun with each other and I’m glad he and my mom got to still be close as the years went on. Rest In Peace, Uncle Mike. We love you.

I am so sorry to hear of Michael's death. I would very much like to come to the visitation tomorrow but under the current circumstances I will not be able to do so. I am 82 years old and getting ready to have knee replacement surgery so I am being extra careful about exposure to COVID. Please know that I am with you in spirit and I plan to make a donation to the Warrick Co Humane Society in Mike's name. Jim's cousin, Jane Grafton Purdie
