

He graduated from Ohio State University and worked as a teacher out of college. Neil then held a long successful career as a veterinarian. He owned his own business and worked in the veterinarian industry for over 40 years. Neil worked for West Side Pet Hospital and was a founding member of the All Pet Emergency Center. He was also a zoo veterinarian at Mesker Park Zoo and worked in many other capacities including for the USDA working the border in his early years, and as an exotic veterinarian taking care of exotic birds, Sigmund and Roy’s big cats, and Ronald Reagan’s Secret Service dogs. Neil especially enjoyed boating and was a member of the Inland Yacht Club.
He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Charolette (Fentress) Phillips; children, Michelle Liddle (Greg), Leslie Hanks, and Mark Bush (Stephanie); step children, Kathy Ramsey-Burklow and Becky Doss (Tony); grandchildren, Tyler, Kaden, Siera, Zachary, Tim, Jamey, Brock, and Jessica; and several great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 31, 2025 at Alexander North Chapel, 4200 Stringtown Rd. Evansville, IN, officiated by Rabbi Gary Mazo; with burial to follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends and family may visit from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Saturday, August 30, 2025 at the funeral home.
