

Norma L. Maurer, 78, of Evansville, peacefully left this life on Friday, September 7, 2012. She was born on March 9, 1934, in Evansville, Indiana. She was the only child of Albert and Elsie Hillenbrand and was raised in St. Joe in the County. She attended grade school and church at St. Joseph’s and lived a good portion of her life in that area. After Norma moved from St. Joe she became a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
Norma was married on July 28, 1951 to Francis S. Maurer at St. Joseph Catholic Church in the County where five generations of her family have been married.
She was a homemaker who later in life worked at The Donut Bank and T.J.Maxx.
Norma was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren’s sporting events.
She loved outdoor activities, including yard work and gardening. Norma enjoyed music and dancing and liked playing the organ and piano. Throughout her life, she had a special place in her heart for her pets, mostly dogs, and loved each and every one.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Elsie, and in 1969 by her husband Francis.
Norma is survived by her daughters, Debbie Pigman (Bob) and Vicki Siwicki (Walt); sons, Randy Maurer (Leanne), Ron Maurer (Sandy), and Rob Maurer; grandchildren, Jessica Hinton (David); Jared and Jennifer Pigman; Angela Audley, and Andrew Siwicki; Kameron, Korey, and Keaton Maurer; Lauren and Colton Maurer; Ashton, Madi and Ali Maurer; great grandchildren, Jackson, Jacob, and Jillian Hinton.
Services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, September 12, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in the County, with burial to follow. Officiating will be Fr. Tom Kessler. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at Alexander North Chapel and Wednesday from 9:00 AM until service time at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mater Dei and Memorial Athletic Programs.
