

Phoebe graduated from Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio. She worked as a teacher and secretary for many years, her favorite being the secretary to the chief curator at the Western Reserve Historical Society in Cleveland, OH.
After retirement she left Cleveland and relocated to Evansville to be near her daughter. Phoebe was a member of P.E.O., an avid reader, writer and loved to travel. She was also a proud grandmother and great-grandmother.

Husband, Bruce Thompson; her sons, John Preston Irwin and Dr. Thomas Irwin; brothers, Jim Lintern (Betty), John Lintern (Lois), and sister Barbra Gehring (Gus).
Phoebe is survived by her daughter Amy Tank (Bob); grandchildren, Will Tank (Tracy), Carrie Tank (Kevin Hatfield) and Evan Tank; great-grandsons, Preston, Connor, and Max Tank; daughters-in-law, Dana Wallach and Debi Irwin; stepson Chip Thompson; stepdaughter Cynthia Thompson (Michael Price); step grandchildren, MacKenzie and Jack Thompson, PJ and Bo Babcock.
A private memorial will take place at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Vanderburgh County Humane Society or Heritage Hospice.
