

Raymond “Ray” Everett Montgomery, 78, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at St. Mary’s Medical Center. He was born February 20, 1938, in New Harmony, IN to the late Sam and Elfleda (Aldrich) Montgomery.
He served in the US Army during the Korean War, retired from Presco Tech, and ran a half-way house for recovering addicts. He loved to fish, play Solitaire, tell stories, take walks, and was a very talented woodworker.
Ray was preceded in death by his sisters, Erma Lee and Darlene.
He is survived by his children, Raymond “Bub” Montgomery, Devonna “Dee” Morris, who was Ray’s caregiver for many years, Alison “Ali” Woodsmall, Jeffrey “Jeff” Montgomery, and Janet Lehman; sisters, Lena (Don) Woodward, Beverly, and Raetta; brother, William Smith; grandchildren, Dale L. Morris, Rachel Morris, who was very special to Ray, Donald Ray Absher, Angel Marie J. Montgomery, Angel Marie Montgomery, Amanda Woodsmall, Michelle Arthur, Amber Martin, Jamie Nicole Lehman, Brianna Johnson, and Jennie Johnson; 26 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM Monday, February 6, 2017, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Rev. John Matsel, with burial in Locust Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
