Rick retired from the US Army, US Postal Service, and four years at the Evansville Public Library.
He was a member of Christian Fellowship Church, DAV, H.O.G.S and CMA.
Rick was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Ann Rogers and brother, Michael Lee Rogers.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Alice (Thompson) Schaefer of Evansville; daughter, Valerie Deslaurier of Evansville; sons, Victor Schaefer (wife Cindy) of Evansville, Richard Schaefer, Jr. (wife Cathy) of Suffolk, VA and Michael Halas of Evansville; sisters, Virginia Quinines (husband Gus) of Chicago, IL, Maria Rogers of McHenry, IL; brother Robert Rogers of Nashville, IN; grandchildren, Gloria and Damian Schaefer, Gage and Caleb Deslaurier, and Kendall Carter; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 2, 2014, at Alexander East Chapel, with burial at Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Monday from, 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Tuesday from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
