

His family moved to Evansville where he was raised by his grandparents, August and Amanda Bohn. He graduated from Bosse High School, where he was class president and in the marching band, and Evansville College, where he was in the ROTC and the orchestra. Upon graduation he enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed in Kansas. After his service he returned to Evansville and taught at Stanley Hall School. While teaching he began work on his graduate degrees at Indiana University, completing his Ed.D. in Educational Counseling. In 1962 he left Stanley Hall to become director of the counseling center at Evansville College, where he soon became dean of students. Bob eventually was named the vice president for student affairs at the University of Evansville. After leaving UE, Bob joined the staff at Welborn Hospital where he served as director of education. He later worked at the Evansville State Hospital and Deaconess Health South as a psychologist while also having his own private practice. He was devoted to working with young people and committed to helping others throughout his life. His encouragement and enthusiasm was a motivational factor in the lives of all those with whom he worked.
Bob leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Joyce (Furgerson) Wilson of Nortonville, KY; brother, Vernon “Tank” (Patricia) Wilson of Brandenburg, KY; sons, Gregory Scott (Roseann) Wilson, Mark Robert (Barbara) Wilson, and Michael Eric (Robbin) Wilson; and four grandchildren, Jessica Nichole Wilson, Kyle Scott Wilson, Eleanor Colleen Wilson, and Joseph August Wilson.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, February 4, 2017, at East Side Christian Church, 2001 Bayard Park Drive, officiated by Rev. David Livingston, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Alexander East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Avenue.
