Romaine Ruth (Rutledge) Armstrong, 82, of Evansville, IN passed away on March 13, 2022 at Linda White Hospice with family by her side. She was born in Evansville, IN on February 6, 1940 to the late Fred and Elsie Rutledge.
She graduated from Reitz High School in 1958. Romaine enjoyed cooking, painting, and crafting. She will be forever remembered for her amazing cream pies and homemade chicken and dumplings. She was very fond of yellow roses.
Romaine held many jobs throughout her life. She worked at Peerless Pottery and Pizza Kings. She retired from Stringtown Elementary School’s cafeteria where she was the cook for 22 years.
Romaine was preceded in death by her sister Betty Hall and husband Bobby Hall, her sister-in-law Marilou Rutledge, and brother-in-law Gabby Boswell.
Romaine is survived by her husband, Kenny Armstrong of 61 years. They met at Shane’s Manufacturing where she was working and caught Kenny’s eye. Years later they gave their lives to Christ and were baptized together.
Romaine is survived by her children, Ruth Ann (Joe) Cole and Kenny Wayne (Shannon) Armstrong; grandchildren, April (Richard) Norman, Lana Blaine (Fiancé Otis), Krystal Loukili (Trace), Brittany (Cameron) Sulawske; 6 great grandchildren; brother Fred (Doris) Rutledge, brother Carl-Sonny Rutledge, sister Doris Boswell of Nashville, TN, and brother Terry (Donna) Rutledge of The Villages, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
A service will held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Grace Church of the Nazarene, 5029 Broadway Ave Evansville, IN, officiated by Pastor Brett Doninger.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Linda E. White Hospice House and the nursing staff at Deaconess Hospital for all their care and compassion towards Romaine.
