Ronald Corbett Smith, 82, of Evansville, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2014, at Golden Living Center Brentwood. He was born June 11, 1932, in Evansville, to the late Walter H and Evelyn (Hitch) Smith.
He retired from Food Sales Agency in 1999 and was a ticket taker at Roberts Stadium for over 35 years for sporting events, concerts, and Aces basketball games. He was a US Navy Veteran, having served four years. Ronald was a member of the Shriner’s Hospital staff, Lessing Lodge #464, and was a Kentucky Colonel. He enjoyed playing cards and was of the Protestant faith.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Joseph Allen Smith; and niece, Pam Cottrell.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Doris Irene (Roy) Smith; son, Scott (Terri) Smith of Boonville, IN; daughters, Tami Smith (Ron) Kastle and Sheryl Smith (Jeff) Ashby both of Evansville, IN; grandchildren, Kris Kastle (Brandon) Svee, Brandon (Cassandra) Smith, Amanda Smith, Scott Hudson, Corbe (Kymber) Ashby, and Stacy Hoye; six great-grandchildren; sister, Zerita Cottrell of Bloomington, IL; and niece, Candy Painter.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 31, 2014, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Pastor Glenda Johnston, with burial with military rites in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Tuesday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Wednesday from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
