

Ronnie Gene Phelps of Newburgh, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Cypress Grove Rehabilitation Center, under the care of Gentiva Hospice. He was born on November 13, 1951 in Evansville, Indiana to the late Harvey Mckinley and Roberta (Shetler) Phelps.
At the age of 16, Ronnie enlisted in the military and proudly served his country, completing three tours in Vietnam where he was exposed to Agent Orange. He was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In addition to his military service, he served the community by donating every Thursday to the food pantry with a church friend. Ronnie was an enthusiastic painter and bass fisherman, dedicating many hours to both passions.
Ronnie is survived by his children, Andria Barthlow (Tony), Kasey Phelps (Jamie), and Kourtney Daniels (Rodney); former wife, Marsha Phelps; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, Darrel W. Phelps, Sr.; and sisters, Shelia Morley and Connie Rhinerson.
The family extends their gratitude to all those who provided care to Ronnie, including the doctors at the V.A. and Deaconess Gateway Hospital.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at Alexander East Chapel, with Chaplain Randy Bechtel officiating. Friends and family may visit from 11:00 am until service time at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, with military rites conducted by the Warrick County Veterans Detail.
