Ruth Marteen Montgomery

Marteen was the Secretary to many Principals at Delaware Elementary School for many years. She also worked as a Receptionist for Alexander Funeral Homes for 25 years. Marteen loved shopping and reading. She was a member of the Cedar Hall Neighborhood Association where she had served as President.

Marteen was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence “Ladd” Montgomery.

She is survived by her sons, Dan Montgomery (Janice) and Dave Montgomery; daughter, Donna Montgomery; and son, Daryl Montgomery (Martha); grandchildren, Tyler Francis (Samantha), Austin Montgomery (Kandace), Danielle Parker (Anthony) and Nicholas Montgomery; great grandchildren, Liam and Ella Francis, Sophia, Larson Montgomery and baby Parker on the way.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 W. Illinois Street, officiate by Rev. Terry Gamblin, followed by burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends and family may visit on Wednesday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
