

Sharon Darlene Vanzant, age 89, of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 19, 1936, in Evansville, Indiana, Sharon resided in Henderson, Kentucky, a community she always called home. She was the beloved wife of Bob VanZant for 71 years, and together they built a lifetime of love and devotion.
Throughout her remarkable life, Sharon owned and operated The Lamp Shoppe for 55 years.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Bob VanZant; her children and their spouses: Cindy Robertson (Rick), Tammy Lipsey (Brad), Susan Gaines (Alan), and Skip Vanzant (Bobbi); seven grandchildren, Travis Gaines, Tannar Gaines (Lindsay), Ali Gaines, Will Lipsey (Rachael), Katie Gaines (Becky), and Maggie Chandler (Alex); and eight great-grandchildren, Hadley Knight, Stella Kate Gaines, Eli Lipsey, Canon Gaines, Cohen Gaines, Corbin Jack Gaines, Lily Gaines, Amelia Lipsey, and Audrey Helen Lipsey. She is also survived by her brother, Randy Powell (Kathy) of Bloomington, Indiana, and her sister, Judy Berger (Wayne) of Olney, Illinois, along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Margie Powell; her parents-in-law, Melvin and Loreen VanZant; and her grandson, Taylor Lipsey and many other loving family members.
Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance of a life well lived and a celebration of Sharon’s life on Monday, September 15, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Alexander Memorial Park, Chapel of Remembrance, 2200 Mesker Park Drive, Evansville, IN 47720, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Alexander Memorial Park.
Though our hearts ache with loss, we find comfort in knowing she now rests in eternal peace, embraced by God’s love, her faith fulfilled. Her laughter will echo in our memories, her love will guide us always, and her legacy will continue through all who were blessed to know her.
