She was born on August 18,1958 in Madisonville, Kentucky. Sherry was raised in Evansville, Indiana by her adoptive parents, Wilburn and Ova Adcock. She dedicated her life to what mattered most to her, her family. A devoted homemaker and caregiver, Sherry was the heart of her home and the loudest cheerleader in the stands at every game, recital, or milestone. When her kids needed a champion, she fought for them; when they needed a listener, she gave them quiet, unwavering attention.
Sherry was married to the love of her life, Kenneth Mark Spond, who preceded her in death in 2010. Together, they raised a beautiful and blended family that remains her greatest legacy.
She is survived by her children: Kenneth Spond and wife Katherine, Lisa Modesto (Spond), Eugene Collins and partner Danielle Walker, and David Collins. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Leif Spond, Perrin Spond, David Collins, Dianah Modesto, Alex Modesto, Jacob Modesto, Camila Valerio, Cameron Collins, Kaydance Collins, Caleb Collins, Kitty Walker, Addlynn Collins, and Aiden Collins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Wilburn and Ova Adcock, her brothers, James Dalton and Paul Dooley.
Loyal to the core, Sherry was known for her sweet tooth, her strength of spirit, and the way she made everyone around her feel deeply loved. She gave everything she had to the people she cared about—and then found more to give.
In addition to her role as a mother and grandmother, Sherry also devoted much of her adult life to helping people who struggled with addiction. She offered compassion, support, and guidance to many, often when no one else would. Her impact in that space was quiet but lasting, and her empathy ran deep.
A memorial gathering to honor Sherry’s life will be held on Sunday, July 27, 2025 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 W. Illinois Street, Evansville, IN.
