Steven Daugherty passed away on April 18, 2022 at his home surrounded by the love of all of his family members near and far. Steve was married to his best friend, Linda (Moore) Daugherty for nearly 54 years and the two of them raised some pretty great kids, Laura Daugherty-Thompson (Mike), Scott Daugherty (Nancy), Kristi Daugherty-Stauber (Jim) & Christopher Moore (Jenifer)...and a bonus kid on the weekends, nephew, Craig Snodgrass (Angie). Steve helped give us a childhood filled with playing outside, go-carts, mini-bikes, 3-wheelers, & open fields to play golf on the 9-hole course he designed himself. He was known for taking lots of kids on legendary camping trips in the stripper pits. But if you know Steve Daugherty, you know that his real legacy is Barn Ball in the family's hay loft! Everyone was welcome as long as you were willing to smash yourself into his CJ-7 jeep and then roll out like you were in the clown car at the circus once he got to the top of the hill (no seat belts required). He was a pretty great dad to all the kids in the neighborhood, too. Steve's house was the place to gather for all of them.
Born to Martha & Jesse Daugherty, Steve had 7 siblings: Josephine, Sondra, Dalcy, Katherine, Jackie, Larry & Merion ("Brother"), and was loved by too many nieces and nephews to list! His grandkids were all his "Rough & Tough: & Hard to Bluff" best buddies - Brooke, Matthew, Luke, Kendyl, Lindi, Zach, Emma, Brylee, Erin & Kolby. His great-grandkids loved him like crazy - Fox, Paisley, Henry, Brooks, Cameron, Ahmir & Vanessa.
Listening to his childhood stories of being the best rock thrower EVER, snatching up brand new boxes of ice cream bars that had been discarded at the landfill, and all the things Tater Head Duncan (whoever that was?) might be the thing we will miss the most, but they will be passed down through generations as they are too wonderful not to share!
In lieu of flowers, if you would like to make a donation in honor of a life well lived, we've chosen the Salvation Army Toys for Tots, because the Salvation Army was where Steve coached many kid's basketball teams (Bobby Knight style) back in the day.
Family and friends may visit on Saturday, April 23, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Alexander West Chapel with the Funeral Service following at 12:00 p.m.
