Sybil Ilene (Stinson) Williams, 90, passed away January 2, 2021 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, IN. She was born February 18, 1930 in Evansville, IN to the late Edgar Morton and Margaret Frances (Melton) Stinson.
In her youth, Sybil was a frequent visitor to West Side Library where she soon became an avid reader. She also volunteered as a candy striper nurse.
Sybil married James C. Williams and brought eight children into the world. As their children were growing up, Sybil made countless sacrifices and endured many hardships to provide for them. Her family is forever grateful for her love and perseverance.
She worked at Shane Manufacturing Company and ABC Family Discount Center. After retiring from the toy department at K-Mart, Sybil worked for Camelot Jewelers.
Sybil was happiest at family gatherings, welcoming family and friends. She also enjoyed listening to gospel and country music, watching comedies, collecting thimbles, traveling to Florida, reading the Bible and Christian devotionals and bragging on her kids.
Sybil was preceded in death by daughter Sherry Jean Williams; son Rodney C. Williams; son-in-law Fred C. Weiberg, Jr.; ex-husband James C. Williams and brothers Arvin, Paul, Edgar Jr., Billy Ray and Tommy Stinson.
She is survived by sons Jerry, Jimmy, Danny (Thelma) and David (Emily) Williams; daughters Ann Weiberg and Augusta (Trent) Lockyear; daughter-in-law Linda Williams; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild and sister Pansy Lancaster.
A private service will be held.
Sybil’s family would like to thank the administrators and staff at Woodlands Golden Living Center in Newburgh for their compassionate care these past few months and Dr. Della Dillard and staff.
