Thomas W. Burnett

Thomas W. Burnett, 72, of Evansville, IN passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital. He was born on February 12, 1953 in Evansville to the late Thomas J. and Marion (Brandis) Burnett.

Thomas is a graduate of Reitz High School and the University of Evansville. He was employed at Double Cola. Tom joined Alexander Ambulance Service, (1977- present) which became Mercy, and eventually AMR, where he was currently employed. Tom was a lifetime member of the Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department serving from 1974 to 1996, making over 3000 runs. He was a Line-Officer from 1981-1984. Tom earned his Eagle Scout award in 1970 with the Boy Scouts of America. Tom was active from 1991 to 2024 in the Boy Scouts of America. Thomas earned Order of the Arrow in 1997, OA Vigil Honor in 2001, Silver Beaver award in 2009, and the District Award of Merit Buffalo Trace Council. He was a member of the West Side Sportsman Club beginning in 2009 and active in NRA Youth Day (2018-present).

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Don Neel.

Thomas is survived by his wife of 42 years, Janet M. (Neel) Burnett; son, Neel Burnett (Amanda); proud grandfather of grandson, Gray Burnett; sister, Nancy Schwarz (Steve); niece, Katie Haas, Angela Katzenberger, and Beth Lieberkanecht; sister-in-law, Cassie Neel; 4 great-nieces; and 1 great nephew.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 W. Illinois Street, Evansville, IN with Rev. Jason McCord. Friends and family may visit on Friday, November 21, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m to service time at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Alexander Memorial Park in Evansville.
