

Trista Barsumian Angel, 46, of Mt. Vernon, IN passed from this world the morning of August 31, 2017 at Deaconess Hospital after a long battle with breast cancer. She was born December 30th, 1970 in Pittsburgh, PA to Patricia and Robert Barsumian of Newburgh, IN.
She grew up in Newburgh where she loved participating in sports, hiking in the woods and enjoying the gifts of nature. She graduated from Castle High School in 1989 where she was active in sports and band. She attended Hanover College graduating in 1993 with a BA in English and earned a post-graduate degree in speech pathology from Murray State University in 1995.
She is survived by her husband of 12 years, Jeff Angel, her daughter Clara Spickler, her brother, Todd Barsumian (Noelle), nieces Annabelle and Mariella Barsumian, nephew Wynn Barsumian and parents Robert and Patricia Barsumian. She is also survived by her step-children, Clay Angel (Paul), Mandy Baylor (Nick), Shaun Angel (Molly), Becky Angel (Christy).
An avid outdoors person, she loved animals, gardening and pontoon-boating on the Wabash River. Her appreciation and love of music played a large part in her life. She enjoyed her daughter Clara’s experience studying the violin and often played along as Clara learned.
She had worked for the EVSC as a speech pathologist and more recently the MVSC. She loved the children she worked with and helped.
A funeral service will be at noon Saturday, September 2, 2017, at Alexander East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Ave., with burial in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. www.AlexanderEastChapel.com.
