

She was a member of Bethlehem United Church of Christ. She was also a member of the Grocer’s Association. Valada loved babysitting; family and friends; sewing; cooking; and traveling. She was a 1932 graduate of Reitz High School.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie L. Thomas; parents, William W. Coffman and Julia Ann Taylor Coffman; siblings, William “Bill” Coffman, Mabel Coffman Newman, Omer Coffman, Ethel Coffman Klingelhoefer, Chester Coffman, Sylvester “Red” Coffman, Olin “Tinse” Coffman, and Lawrence “Bud” Coffman.
Valada is survived by her daughter, Pamela Crowe (Bill), Bloomfield, IN; grandson, Thomas Crowe (Michelle), Bloomington, IN.; granddaughter, Julie Crowe Chaffe (Tom), Richmond, VA.; great-grandchildren, Madalyn Crowe, Meredith Crowe, Carver Crowe, all of Bloomington, IN.; and William Chaffe, Richmond, VA.; and many, many, nieces and nephews.
Services will be 11:00 AM, Monday, February 20, 2012, at Alexander Memorial Park Cemetery, officiated by Heritage Hospice Chaplain, Rev. Tom Hubachek, with burial to follow at the cemetery. Friends may visit, Monday, 10:00 AM until service time at the cemetery Heritage Chapel.
