Virginia “Ginny” Joyce Deig, 90, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2019 at West River Health Campus. She was born in Evansville, Indiana, on September 14, 1928 to her parents, Pearl and Gordon Dame. She graduated from Bosse High School, class of 1947. She was a 50 plus year member of St. Mark United Church of Christ, and active in the women’s group in bible studies and gatherings where she shared her collections and creativity. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary as well as the Riverbend Auxiliary. She was employed at Mead Johnson and Crown Potteries Co. as a teenager, then became a loving and devoted homemaker for her children. “Mu” as she was known to her family, was a devoted and generous mother and grandmother as she showed kindness and a caring spirit. She was an artisan in decorating her home, piecing miniature quilts, creating arts and crafts, sewing intricate stitches, and tole painting. Her grandchildren were a special part of her life as she supported and cherished each of them. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband Alfred Deig, in 2007; brothers, Curtis and Ralph Dame; sisters, Eloise Beck and Aleen “Betty” Hallam. Virginia is survived by her children, Steve Deig, Ron Deig (Debbie), Craig Deig (Linda) and Katherine Campbell (Chris). grandchildren; Juston Deig, Wes Deig (BJ), Bianna Owen (Tyler), Aaron Deig, Rachel Dierlam (Jon), Kiersten Roberts (Scott), Laura Klarich (Brian), Grant Campbell, and Ben Campbell; great grandchildren, Landon Deig, Jaxon Deig, Darcy Roberts, Alaina Owen, Meadow Deig, and Elliott Roberts. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at Alexander West Chapel officiated by Pastor Barbara G. Gaisser with entombment to follow at Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit 1-7 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark United Church of Christ.
