

William V. Clippinger, 89, of Evansville, IN passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on March 15, 1936 in Athens, OH to the late Donald R. and Florence (Vance) Clippinger.
Bill worked in the insurance and financial service business in Evansville for over 50 years. A graduate of Ohio University, he attended Indiana University Graduate School of Business and served as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He began his career with Northwestern Mutual and then moved to Mass Mutual. Bill was proud to have owned Clippinger Financial Group, LLC with his son, Scott, which continues today through NFP an Aon company.
His business achievements included Life member of MDRT and Court of the Table, National Quality Award, National Sales Achievement Award, Mass Mutual Blue Chip Council, Leader of Leaders and Mass Mutual’s Indiana Agent of the Year on numerous occasions, Gold Award, Nation’s Top District Manager two times, and ELIF Award. He served three times as President of Southwestern Indiana Association of Life Underwriters, Past Vice President of Indiana Association of Life Underwriters, President of Mass Mutual’s Agents Association for the entire USA 1993-1994 and Life Underwriter of the Year 1996-1997 in the State of Indiana.
In our community, Bill served on many boards including the Evansville Chamber of Commerce, Welborn Baptist Hospital Foundation, Big Brothers of Evansville, Evansville Red Cross, Evansville Philharmonic, Evansville Rotary Club, Beacon Group, Youth First, Community Foundation Alliance, Riley Foundation, USI Foundation, and YMCA where he was a Past President. He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and enjoyed singing in the Contempo Choir.
In 2018, Bill was proud to participate in the Honor Flight for his service in the military. He enjoyed boating and spending time with his family and friends at Lake Barkley. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his grand dogs. Other hobbies included fishing, birds, sports, reading, and flower gardening. He loved having lunch with his buddies.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Carolyn (Graf) Clippinger; son, Scott W. Clippinger (Pam); daughter, Julie V. Hagedorn (Gene); grandchildren, Anna Clippinger, Will Clippinger (Rachel), John Clippinger, Tyler Hagedorn (Mikaila), and Hadley Hagedorn.
A Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 5130 Lincoln Avenue, with Pastors Heather Foley and George Purnell officiating. Friends and family may visit on Monday, August 18, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Alexander East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Avenue, and Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will follow at Alexander Memorial Park where full military rites will be conducted.
