David retired in 1962 from the United States Navy. He worked for the Civil Service until 1972 and Deaconess Hospital from 1976 until retirement in 1993. He was a member of VFW Post #1114.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Nell (Cunningham) Deans, nine sisters, and one brother.
David is survived by his son, Jim Deans (Tearani); grandchildren, Lisa Deans, Christina Bush, Kayla Avery, Faith Deans, Madi Avery, Brileigh Avery, James Ryan Deans and Jacob Deans; five great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Noma Brizius.
Graveside services will be held 2:15 PM Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at Alexander Memorial Park Cemetery, 2200 Mesker Park Drive. Visitation will be Wednesday from 12-Noon to 2:00 PM at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 W. Illinois Street.
