William Effinger

Tub served 20 years active duty with the USMC, and his proudest years were his time serving with Third Force Recon in Vietnam where he and his Marine brothers formed a bond that has never ceased. After retirement, he moved back to Evansville and worked as a general contractor. Tub was a member of Creekside Baptist Church. Tub lived his life by three key values: Family, Faith and Service.

William is preceded in death by his infant, Kevin; brothers, Frank, Charlie, Merel, Sonny, Bob and Jack Effinger; sisters, June Johnson and Janice Gish.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years Dorothy (Harris) Effinger; daughter, Stephanie Stacy (Tim); son, Mark Effinger; daughter, Teresa McDurmon (Kem); son, Matthew Effinger (Kim); grandchildren, Rebecca and Andrew Stacy, Jennifer, Kathleen and Kent Effinger (Christine), Melissa Dalrymple (Jarrod) and Lauren McDurmon, Nick and Sawyer Effinger; great grandchildren, Addyson Dalrymple, Kaytlyn Eaton and Kellan Williams; sisters, Marilyn Effinger, Betty Dunning, Charlotte Effinger and Jane Fisher (Robert); brothers; Jerry, Butch (Linda) and Steve Effinger, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, August 31, 2018, at Alexander Memorial Park Heritage Chapel officiated by Rev. Don Moore, with burial to follow. Friends may visit 3-8 PM Thursday August 30, 2018 at Alexander West Chapel. Visitation 10-11 AM Friday August 31, 2018 at the cemetery.
