William Harold Stephens Sr.

He was an Air Force Veteran Airman 1st Class. Bill was a member of Faith Church of the Nazarene where he had been Sunday School Superintendent and taught adult Bible study. He retired from George Koch after more than 30 years. During retirement, he enjoyed fishing, play cards, and pitching washers.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Dorothy Mae Stephens.

He is survived by sons, William H. Stephens, Jr. (Elaine), Chuck Stephens, John Stephens (Marie); daughters, Ruth Harshman, Mary Short, all of Evansville; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Thelma Ferguson of Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, June 23, 2017, at Faith Church of the Nazarene, 519 E. Olmstead Avenue, Evansville, IN, officiated by Rev. Cathy West with burial in Sunset Memorial Park. The Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military services at the cemetery. Friends may visit 2-8 PM on Thursday at Alexander East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Avenue, Evansville, and 9:00 AM until service time on Friday at the church.
