

Wilma Lorene Carter, 91, of Newburgh, IN passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Newburgh Healthcare. She was born on January 31, 1935, in Waverly, KY to the late Robert C. and Edith L. (Gregory) Utley.
She was a member of the Vann Avenue Baptist Church. Wilma loved antiques and owned her own antique shop in Evansville for several years. She enjoyed fishing in Mt. Vernon, IN and was passionate about reading, puzzles, and crochet. In her earlier years, Wilma was an avid bowler and had played in several leagues. She deeply loved her family.
Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, Donald J. Carter; parents; sisters, Dottie Cox, Martha Waters, Francis Buckman, and Deanna Butterfield; brothers, Roger Utley and Michael Utley; and son, Donald R. Carter.
She is survived by her son, Joseph W. Carter; daughter, Lisa M. Gardner (Matt); daughter-in-law, Debra Carter; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life Visitation for Donald and Wilma Carter will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Ave., Evansville, IN 47714.
