Eleanor Hurley, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many, passed away peacefully July 23, 2015 at age 95, with both her daughters at her side..
Eleanor was born in Everett on November 1, 1919, to Peter and Katie (Hayes) McMahon. On February 15, 1946, she married Everett Hurley, the boy next door, and they were happily married for 60 years.
Eleanor was a life-long member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help where she attended grade and middle schools. She went on to Everett High School where she graduated in 1937.
Eleanor worked primarily in business administration. She worked in the Long Beach, California shipyards during part of World War II. She returned to Everett before the war ended because her father died and she needed to help her mother. In Everett, she held positions with the Everett Welfare Department, Boeing, Scott Paper Company and retired after working more than ten years with the Snohomish County Assessor’s office.
Eleanor was very loyal to her family. She travelled to Connecticut and Oregon to help her daughters when each of her four granddaughters was born. As the girls grew up, they all spent weeks each summer with their grandparents in Everett.
After retirement, she and Everett took many vacations – to Europe, the British Isles, Asia, cruises and road trips across the United States. She enjoyed lunches with friends, volunteering, Sunday and Holiday dinners with family, crossword puzzles, Jeopardy, The Wheel, watching PGA golf and the Mariners.
Eleanor volunteered in the gift shop at Providence Hospital (Pacific Campus) for more than 20 years and was a current member of Catholic Daughters, St. Rita’s Guild.
Eleanor is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Jon Christopherson, of Vashon Island, Washington; daughter, MaryKaye Dahmen, of Portland, Oregon; four granddaughters, Katherine Christopherson and husband Brian Hartman of Bellevue, Washington, Courtney Kemmer and husband Billy of Portland, Oregon, Anna Christopherson and husband Ben Wood of Renton, Washington and Allyson Anderson and husband Paul, of Portland, Oregon. She also leaves behind four great-grandchildren, Beatrice Christopherson-Wood, Hazel and Olive Kemmer and Everett Anderson. She will be dearly missed by all her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Everett, her brothers John and Peter and her sister Katherine (Kay).

Rosary will precede the funeral at 1:30 p.m., with services at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 29th, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Everett. Reception following at the Parish Center.
