

He graduated from Everett High School in 1953 and served in the U.S. Naval Reserved for 12 years. He worked at Scotts Paper Mill as a Machine Tender until he retired in 1993.
He enjoyed fishing, boating, airplanes from WWII, traveling to Reno, NV to watch the airplane races, crabbing, shell fishing, salmon fishing, and handyman work. Jim loved spending time with family and friends at the family cabin in Hood Canal, WA.
James is preceded in death, parents; Eugene and Laura; siblings, Genevive Leary Woodall, Ralph Leary, Dorothy Schneer, and Jack Leary.
He is survived by his son, Michael Leary; siblings, Helen Leary Olson (Ed), Laura Beth Leary Smith; grandson, Daniel Maupin; eight nephews and nieces, Jeff Leary, Jack Leary, Mike Olson, Larry Olson, Lauren Smith-Peterson, Richard Smith, Brian Smith, David Smith, and Ralph E. Woodall. He is also survived by special friend and caregiver, Judith Leary; friend and caregiver, Mary Woods; best little pals and great-nephews, Mason Leary and Braden Leary. Also, Connor Olson, Colby Olson, Kyle Leary and Nick Leary.
Services will be held Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Evergreen Funeral Home, 4504 Broadway, Everett, WA
