She left this life on May 13, 2011, at the age of 96, in her Everett home of 62 years. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Olga was a devoted mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and great- great-grandmother. She was a good friend to all who knew her. Her sense of humor and her ability to connect with family and friends of every age made her home open to all. She liked nothing better than to sit and visit and discuss all subjects from religion to politics and everything in between. She had many stories to share about growing up on the prairies of Alamo, ND. She was the youngest of three girls who all survived into their nineties.
Olga was an avid gardener. In 1996, she won the Monte Cristo Award for the Pinehurst Neighborhood. She was once on the Gardening in America show with Ed Hume. She was known for the beautiful fuchsias, begonias, dahlias and flower baskets she raised every year and also for the large Christmas wreaths on her windows and the decorations on her house during the holiday season. She was a member of the Sons of Norway and spent many Friday nights dancing there. She also belonged to Club 170 where she gained many wonderful friendships. She could sit down next to a stranger and walk away knowing everything about them. She loved traveling. She took trips to Europe and throughout the U.S. with family and friends as long as she was able. She loved going back to her roots in North Dakota. Olga lived life to its fullest.
She is survived by her daughters, Darlene (Ron) Romo and Lorna (Gary) Harstad; sons, Darrell (Mary Kay) Anderson and Don Ness; ten grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren, with two more due this year.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Women and Children's Shelter, in care of the Everett Gospel Mission, or to a charity of your choice.
