

Rodney R. Bly, 77, of Everett, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family, April 29, 2012. He was proceeded in death by his parents Roy and Irma Bly. He attended Everett High School and Everett Community College. He served honorably in the United States Marine Corps. He worked for over 26 years at Dwayne Lane’s Dodge, retiring as General Manager in 1996.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years Noreen. Siblings, Dale (Dolly), Loren, Joanne (Don), Duane (Carol) and Sonja (Bob). Children, Chris (Barb), Tim (Joanna), John (Carrie), Tom (Delaina) and Carolyn. Grandchildren, Andrew, Anna, Laura, Alicia, Samuel, Russell, Cameron, Jessica, Matthew and three great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rod was an avid handball player and played many a game in the old Elk’s handball court. He loved football and was a football referee for over 26 years with the Snohomish County Football Officials Association and was their assigning secretary for many years.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Serra International, Sertoma, The Society of St. Vincent dePaul and the Everett Elks. Through the years he received numerous awards, the most recent being a 2011 inaugural induction into the Snohomish County Football Officials “Ring of Honor”.
He loved to barbeque and cooked many a hot dog and hamburger for numerous charity events around the County.
The family would like to thank Dr. Congdon, Jovanna Jacobson and all of the nurses and staff at the Providence Regional Cancer Partnership for the care they provide Rod during his battle with cancer. We want to give a very special thanks to Nata and Peg of Providence Hospice for all of their help during Rod’s last few weeks.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Providence Hospice or Our Lady of Perpetual Help’s St. Vincent dePaul.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church 2617 Cedar Ave. Everett WA 98201
Reception will follow at Mattie Hall - 2501 Hoyt Ave Everett WA 98201.
Private Family Graveside with Military Honors will be held at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park, Everett, WA.
