

Shane Dearden of Lake Stevens, born July 20, 1969 in Tacoma, to Charles and Elizabeth Dearden, passed away August 2 as a result of a canoeing accident in Montana. He was with an amazing group of Boy Scouts and leaders, but most importantly with his two beloved sons, one a Scout and the other an assistant Scoutmaster.
Shane grew up in in Dorchester, MA, and served in the Navy aboard the USS Sacramento, based in Bremerton, WA. He worked for Precor in Woodinville for 25 years as a senior operations supervisor and served as a leader in Lake Stevens Troop 43. He was loved and respected by his fellow employees, troop members, friends, neighbors and family, for his kindness, integrity and loyalty. It has often been said that Shane would drop everything to help those who needed him, except maybe when the Seahawks played.
Mr. Dearden is survived by his sons, Shane, Jr. and Hunter and their mother Gretchen Dearden, his brothers Charles, Scott, Mark, and sister Elizabeth, and five nieces and nephews.
Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Monday August 10, Calvary Chapel, 9428 4th St SE, Lake Stevens, WA. He will be interred at the National Cemetery in Tahoma at 10:00 AM, Tuesday August 11.
