Larry Dean Howard Sr., age 82 was born on May 27, 1939 in Wrigley, Kentucky. He arrived in heaven on Sunday February 27, 2022. He was a 1958 graduate of Fairborn High School. Larry went on to further his education in Chicago, Illinois. Upon returning to Fairborn, Ohio he began working alongside his older brother as a diesel mechanic. After years of perfecting his skill set, Larry purchased his first semi in 1970 and that was the start of his entrepreneurial journey. Through his vast knowledge of diesel engines, strong work ethic and genuine kind hearted nature, his business flourished. He instilled these business values in his children who have been instrumental in the overall success of this generational company that has been in business for over 50 years.
Although a successful business owner, his family was his greatest joy and accomplishment in life. He was the patriarch of his family and took great pride in showing unconditional love to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He worked to ensure his special needs daughter had a beautiful and fulfilling life. We know this was a beautiful reunion when he arrived at the gates of heaven.
He was the definition a “car guy” and appreciated the rare qualities of vintage cars, the glorious sounds of a fine-tuned motor, the car show atmosphere with friends and the beauty of restoring a vehicle to its once glory.
Later in life, Larry found serenity in the game of golf, where he could be outdoors; spend time with friends and his grandson, Josh. He spent many hours studying the game and sharpening his skills. One of his fondest golfing memories was making a hole in one on the 18th hole at Windy Knoll golf course.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Louise Howard, his brother Herman Howard, daughter Rae Lynn Howard, granddaughter Brittany Koronich and many other beloved family.
Those left to cherish his memory, his children Dean (Tammy) Howard, Laura (Dan) Ankeny, grandchildren Tiarah (Nate) Todd, Taulinah (Danny) Knox, Ryan Koronich, and Josh (Shelbie) Koronich, his great-grandchildren, Luke, Cash, Reese and Kinslee, his brothers William, Jack and Lynn Howard and his devoted former spouse Sandra Howard and family.
Family will receive friends from 10am to 11am with a service at 11:00 on Saturday March 5, 2022 at the Burcham Tobias Funeral Home, 119 E. Main St., Fairborn, Ohio. Pastor Randy Warner will officiate. Interment will follow at Byron Cemetery in Fairborn. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.burchamtobiasfuneralhome.com
