Helen D. Riggle, 91, was born on November 17, 1929 in New Hope, Kentucky to Francis Sydney Donohue and Mary Reid Donohue. She loved church, being with family, scrabble, gardening, flowers and helping others. She was a member at St. Teresa of Calcutta (formerly St. Jerome) for over 60 years. In addition to her parents, Helen is preceded in death by the love of her life, Albert K. Riggle; her youngest son, Charles J. Riggle; 5 brothers and 1 sister. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Theresa Tune (Joel); sons, Albert F. Riggle (Lonna) and Michael S. Riggle (Mattie); a daughter-in-law, Terri Riggle; a sister, Lillian Recktenwald; she was blessed with 8 grandchildren, Kimberly Riggle, Megan Conlen (Andy), Debbie Riggle, Jennifer McCorkle (Chris), Albert M. Riggle (Felecia), Ian Tune (Kristine), Brittany Johnson (Zac) and Morgan Riggle; she was also very proud of her 10 great-grandchildren, Dillon, Brantley, Brooklyn, Jace, Kaydence, Levi, Cooper, Brandt, Addisyn and Vivian Faye. The family will accept guests for visitation on Friday, June 11, 2021 from 2:00-8:00 pm at Fairdale-McDaniel Funeral Home. Helen was a fixture in my life from a young age, as a student at St. Jerome, church activities, Fairdale Fire Department, and as I grew older her grandchildren were involved in youth ministry as she was involved with Spirited Sages and the funeral meal following the death of both of my parents. I had nothing but great respect and love for Helen and know she is now reunited with Al & Charlie. To the Riggle family know that I am sharing your loss and praying for peace for you all.

All these photos brought back so many memories. Scrabble games with Mamaw. Mamaw and Papaws old living room filled with so much family it was standing room only. Picking "flowers" for Mamaw, then her teaching me which ones were flowers and which ones were weeds that would make my hands itchy the rest of the day. All the homeade jams and jelly options for breakfast with her. Picking vegetables with her in the garden and her famous Christmas cookie box, especially those rocky roads. Our prayers and love go to all of you. We miss you all and wish we were able to be there this weekend.

With love,
Ian, Kristine, and Brandt

When Charles was in my 5th grade class at St. Jerome School, Helen was extremely kind and supportive. Like most parents she wanted the best for her son.

I’m sending my sympathy and prayers to the family.
