He was owner and operator of L. E. Hobbs Construction Company from 1955 until his retirement in 1992, an Army veteran of the Korean conflict and a member of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church.
Preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Hobbs; brother, J.R.; and sisters, Anna Margaret and Mary Frances.
Survived by his wife of 56 years, the former Mary Hardesty; daughters, Agnes Greenwell (Fred), Ruth Smith, Martha Petty (Mike) and Dorothy Childress (Tony); sons, Eddie (Debbie), Rickie (Julie), John and Kenny Hobbs; sisters, Martina Repstock and Judy Reed; brother, James Hobbs; 14 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, 903 Fairdale Road, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Thursday at Fairdale-McDaniel Funeral Home, 411 Fairdale Road.
