Amy Renee Welsh

Amy Bosman was born July 31, 1979, in Baltimore, Maryland to Stephany Bosman and Quentin Sutherland.

Amy graduated from Fairfax High School (VA) with honors in 1997, and was a cheerleader on the Fairfax Rebel cheerleading squad. Amy attended James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences in 2002. Amy was awarded the Golden Key National Honor Society in 2000.

Once married, Amy’s top priority was to be a great mom and loving her children. Amy loved spending time at the beach and swimming with her boys. She enjoyed cooking, listening to podcasts, and was an avid reader and researcher. She was passionate about mental health and helping others, which led her to Habitat for Humanity. She picked up any athletic activity with ease, including snowboarding and skating. She also loved spending time at Lake Anna with her stepdad, John, and her family boating and wakeboarding.

Amy is survived by her three sons, Aiden, Tristan, and Jackson Welsh; former husband, Brian Welsh; parents, Stephany Mackay and Quentin Sutherland; step-fathers, John Derry and John Mackay; sisters, Lisa Nesson and Melissa Mackay; brother, Alex Courtot; grandparents, Nel and Frank Bosman; brother-in-law, Eli Nesson; sister-in-law, Hanna Courtot; niece, Livia Nesson; nephew, Niko Nesson; and friend, Charlie Jackson. Amy is preceded in death by her daughter, Mackenzie Welsh, and grandparents, Dolores and Elliot Sutherland.

A memorial service for Amy will be held Sunday, December 3, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Fairfax Church of Christ, 3901 Rugby Road, Fairfax, Virginia 22033. A reception will follow at the home of Stephany Mackay, Aiden Welsh, Tristan Welsh, Jackson Welsh, and Melissa Mackay.
