Anthony Wayne Patton was born on August 25, 1947 to parents John and Gertrude Patton. He grew up in Cleveland, Ohio as the youngest of three siblings, sister Carole and brother Edwin. Tony had a wonderful childhood playing baseball, basketball and touch football with neighborhood kids in the Parkside, Parkgate and Cultural Gardens area of Cleveland. He graduated from East High School where he ran track and played trumpet in the marching and jazz bands. He studied architecture at Ohio University where he was initiated into the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. He finished his college studies at Central State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in engineering and computer science. Tony had a long and distinguished professional career starting with Computer Sciences Corporation in Detroit, WPO in Washington D.C. and Egypt, Arthur Young in Atlanta, Booz Allen in Chicago, MCI in D.C. and Colorado Springs, and Capital One in Richmond where he retired as a Director of the US Card Architecture Division.
Tony was an avid golfer, tennis player and loved skiing. He was a fantastic chef, foodie, and an amateur sommelier. He was a certified FAA Private Pilot and loved being on the water piloting his 30-foot sailboat. Family and friends were very important to Tony from his childhood friends he made growing up in Cleveland to the friends he made in the various cities he called home over the years. Tony easily made friends wherever he went. He had a bright smile and contagious laugh. He was quick-witted and knowledgeable on numerous subjects from photography to literature, sports and travel, to home maintenance. Tony was a true Renaissance Man. He never missed family get-togethers for holidays, birthdays, graduations, and weddings. Tony was always the life of the party. He was a man of prestige, class, and distinction; everyone’s favorite Uncle and Best friend.
While living in Colorado Springs, Tony met Bonnie Glasco and her family, son Nicholas, daughter Trishell, and Trishell’s daughters Camryn and Skye. After a lengthy courtship, Tony and Bonnie were engaged to be married. Unfortunately, after a long battle with illness, Bonnie passed away in June of 2020 before they could be wed.
On January 20, 2025 Tony departed this life with family at his bedside in Fairfax, Virginia.
He is survived by his brother Edwin and Ed’s wife Rozann, nephew John Patton and his wife Valerie, niece Adrienne Lomaglio and her husband Gian, Gian and Adrienne’s children Dante and MiaBella, and nieces Jannise and Tracy Johnson (Carole’s children).
Tony is sorely missed, and though his time on this earth may have come to an end, his legacy and loving-impact on the lives of those he touched will be long remembered. We will always cherish our memories of him and will forever hold them close to our hearts.
A memorial gathering and reception for Anthony will be held Friday, February 21, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM at Demaine Funeral Home - Fairfax, 10565 MAIN ST, FAIRFAX, VA 22030.
