He pursued his primary and secondary education in the city of Jimma and completed his studies with distinction. He then gained employment with the Ministry of Education as a teacher and is credited with inspiring those who later became public officials and leaders in various sectors of the country. He went on to Addis Ababa, where he worked under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture for an American organization, Point Four. He soon earned a chance to pursue an education at the American University in Beirut. Due to severe illness, he was forced to interrupt his studies and return home after receiving treatment in Beirut.
Mr. Assefa was driven by his passion for education and persisted by completing an LLB or degree in legal studies through a distance learning program in Chicago. He continued working in various capacities at the Ministry of Agriculture until his retirement, most notably serving as a judge and mediator in the Human Resources Commission, where he made significant contributions in maintaining order and fairness among his countrymen.
Mr. Assefa Bezabeh and his wife, Mrs. Zenna Mammo, bore five children. He was a dedicated father to Yared, Yonas, Elsabeth, Samuel and Sene. He was also a loving grandfather to his eleven grandchildren: Naomi, Mekdim, Nathan, Dagem, Abigail, Lissan, Liyu, Jadon, Noah, Melat and Anabelle.
For the last twenty years, Mr. Assefa split his time between his children, grandchildren and other family members enjoying the blessings of family.
As God has willed that death shall pass upon all men, Mr. Assefa passed away on March 20, 2019 at 7:30 pm at 85 years of age, after a few hours of illness surrounded by family.
We ask you all to join us in prayer that God may receive his devout son, Mr. Assefa (Gebre Michael), in heaven and grant his soul everlasting life.
Praise the Lord!
