Colonel Bernard L. Stewart – US Army RET
The morning of January 2nd, 2020 we lost a great American. A Soldier. A Father. Col Bernard L. Stewart lost his long fight with Alzheimer’s disease surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his 3 daughters Dusty, Kim, Renee and his son Scott, 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
Col Stewart was a soldier. He started his military career by being drafted during the Korean War and went into the Army after he met his love Mickey Stewart. He was an American advisor early in the Vietnam conflict advising the Vietnamese army before the Tonkin Gulf incident. He would return to Vietnam two more times. The last time he volunteered to go so he could command a Battalion, his path to a "Full Bird". The path to Colonel. After Vietnam he went to the pentagon where he worked on the Joint Chiefs of Staff during the Carter Years. After his tour at the Pentagon he went to the Defense Communications Agency to put up Satellites for the Army. When he retired, he began consulting for SRI, SAIC and then formed his own consulting company specializing in Anti-Terrorism. What a wonderful career, family and life he had.
He will be missed dearly by all of his friends and family. We will all truly miss this great man, but we all know that he is now at peace and does not have to live with Alzheimer’s anymore. He is at peace with the love of his life, his dear Mic.
