BEVERLY LOUISE COLE STEVENSON, age 94 of Fairfax Virginia passed away on Wednesday May 22, 2024.
Born on June 19, 1929 she was the daughter of Roland and Loretta (Eggert) Cole, both deceased. She was the sister of Richard (Carol) Cole, deceased; She was married to Nevin J. Stevenson, a retired Navy Commander who pre deceased her in 1996.
Beverly graduated from Arcade Central School and Bryant & Stratton Business Institute. She worked for the Navy Department in Washington, DC as a Budget Analyst for 35.5 years until her retirement in 1984.
Beverly was very active in her retirement years. She was a world traveler, having visited almost every country on earth, and loved bowling, golf, book clubs, a good gin martini, and her Pentagon Girls. She was a member of the Army Navy Country Club, the Falls Church Victorian Society, and an International organization called the Questers whose purpose was to educate by research and study of antiques and to donate to the preservation of historic landmarks and educational purposes.
She lived in Falls Church with her beloved ‘Steve”, and in 2021 moved to The Woodlands Senior Living, where she quickly made friends and was loved by all who knew her. She loved to play Bingo, and when winning, collected a slew of coupons for milkshakes at the café at the Woodlands.
She was famous for her 3-4 paragraph emails and letters, and her special notes in gift boxes, and will be greatly missed by all she knew. She lived a full life and had more friends and relatives than one can count.
She is survived by her loving stepchildren: Sally (Robert) Sweatt, Maidens, VA; Alexander (Luanne) Stevenson, Manassas, VA; 6 step grandchildren; 16 step great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, 1 niece Stephanie Hiester, Manassas, VA, and 2 nephews, Andrew Cole, Hagerstown, MD, and Richard Cole of Temple, PA.
A Celebration of Life to be held at Demaine Funeral Home, 10565 Main St, Fairfax, VA 22030, Wednesday, June19, 11:00 am. Interment at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to Fairfax County Library.
